Boston – Tropical Storm Debbie Reinvigorated and heading for a second landfall near Charleston, South Carolina, Wednesday night.

Debbie Path

There is a small chance that it will continue to strengthen and become a minimal hurricane again shortly before making landfall. From there, Debbie will stay inland and over land and begin to increase its forward momentum as it heads north through Pennsylvania and upstate New York.

At the same time, Debye loses its tropical characteristics and rapidly deteriorates. By the time it reaches the northeast, it will be a typical low pressure area, although there will be some very heavy rain west of its track.

The center of Debbie’s remnants will pass several hundred miles west of the Boston area and bring heavy rain to western New England.

Parts of Pennsylvania and upstate New York will receive 3 to 6 inches of rain. Farther east, in New England, we expect a half inch to an inch or two of rain at most.

If you’re planning a weekend in Massachusetts, there’s great news! Debbie’s remnants are going to fly in here at high speed.

The highest impacts for New England will arrive late Friday night and last long into Saturday.

Weekend forecast

Aside from a few lingering clouds and showers very soon, Saturday should feature plenty of sunshine and comfortable, dry air!

The outlook is good for Sunday and early next week. We should be out in the sun for days and without the heat and humidity we’ve been experiencing of late.
