MOORESVILLE, NC – An explosion leveled the father of Tennessee Titans cornerback Caleb Farley Tuesday morning near Lake Norman in Mooresville.
One person died and another was injured early Tuesday morning, according to Iredell County Emergency Management.
It happened around 12 midnight on Barber Loop Road near Old Arborway Road.
A press release from emergency management said first responders were called to a home on Barbour Loop after a reported explosion. First responders found a victim who was “leaving the house” and was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
One person was later found dead in the rubble. Family members The victim was identified as Caleb Farley’s father, Robert Farley. Iredell County Emergency Management confirmed the death of Robert Farley and said Caleb was not home at the time of the explosion.
According to property records, the house was owned by Farley of Maiden.
Titans head coach Mike Vrabel offered his condolences to Farley’s family after a practice Tuesday afternoon.

Helicopter 9 Skyzoom flew over the wreckage just before 11 a.m. Tuesday and saw several people walking around the wreckage.
Dominion Energy, which services the home, said in a statement to Channel 9 that representatives were among the first responders after the explosion.
“We are continuing to work in coordination with emergency personnel on this ongoing investigation,” Dominion Energy said in a statement. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of life. Our hearts go out to the families affected by this incident.

Property records say the home is worth more than $3 million.

It is unclear what caused the explosion at this time. Investigators are still looking into the source.
