The initial focus of the investigation was whether the boat crew had closed the hatch
An initial focus of the official investigation is whether the boat’s crew closed access hatches inside the vessel before the storm hit, said an expert at the disaster site, who declined to be named.

Rescue teams break through a glass window and enter Bayesian’s hull, local media report

However, they are yet to go to the cabins and it may take some time as the entrances may be blocked, it added.
The boat is said to be leaning on its starboard side, adding to the difficulty of the operation.

Map: Where did the boat sink?
Luxury yacht sinks off the coast of Palermo, Sicily.
The 56-meter sailboat sank shortly before sunrise with 22 people on board, the Italian coast guard said in a statement.
“The wind was very strong. Bad weather was expected, but not to this extent,” a coastguard official in Palermo told Reuters.
Storms and heavy rain have lashed Italy in recent days – with floods and landslides causing major damage in the country’s north – after weeks of intense heat.
The boat left the Sicilian port of Milazzo on August 14 and was last tracked east of Palermo on Sunday evening, with a navigation status of “at anchor,” according to vessel tracking app VesselFinder.

Desperate conditions faced by divers searching for submerged Bayesian survivors
Rescuers include cave-diving expertsBayesianIt was sunk by a hurricane in Sicily.
It is thought to be the only hope for survival of the six passengers who are still unaccounted for – tech tycoon Mike Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter; Morgan Stanley executive Jonathan Bloomer and his wife, Judy; And Clifford Chance lawyer Chris Morvillo and his wife Neda – who are in a plane pocket on board the doomed £30m ship.
Helping in the search are two cave divers, who are trying to navigate the dark, tight corridors of the “perfectly intact” boat, which is now 49 meters deep.
