LOS ANGELES – Pete Davidson has been charged with reckless driving after he crashed his car into a Beverly Hills home in March, authorities said Friday.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said the comedian and former “Saturday Night Live” star was “involved in a violent collision at home” after driving recklessly. No one was seriously injured, prosecutors said.
A representative for Davidson told NBC News that she would have no further comment on the case.
The incident took place on March 4 in a residential area of Beverly Hills, where Davidson was contacted by officers after a standoff, according to a Beverly Hills Police Department source familiar with the incident.
Officers at the scene believed his appearance and demeanor did not warrant further investigation into his sobriety, and he cooperated, the source said.
However, the police clearly felt that speed was a factor in the accident, the official said.

Davidson left NBC’s “SNL” at the end of the 2021-2022 season as one of the most popular cast members and starred in the Peacock series “Pubkiss.” NBC and Peacock are owned by NBCUniversal, the parent company of NBC News.
The district attorney’s office linked Davidson’s incident to an increase in traffic deaths, some of which were allegedly caused by vehicles traveling too fast. Reckless driving can have devastating consequences, the office said in its email.
A hearing in the case is scheduled for July 27. Defendants in common malpractice cases in California — with some exceptions — can usually have an attorney appear on their behalf.
